Sinebrychoff Park 2.0
Acoustic inquiry of the well-being of the community ecosystem of Sinebrychoff park
Sinebrychoff park 2.0 is a study of the relations between the soundscape of Sinebrychoff park in Helsinki and the mapping of the global mediascape as we know it. We invite the visitors of Sinebrychoff park to participate in an acoustic inquiry. Equipped with devices that enhance one's hearing, they can uncover a sonic universe that normally rests unnoticed, while filling our inspection form.
As we did in the previous performance in Les Lilas, we discretely placed sound sources and some actors to alter the soundscape of the park. Actors were playing spam, googlebot surveillance, amazon-like talking, ad words, nigerian scam, facebook friend-dropping etc.

Amorph!08 seminar at the French Cultural Center, Helsinki
We have presented our project at the French Cultural Center in Helsinki. The semi-serious picture here shows a work-in-progress representation of the global mediascape. David Zerbib of Paris I University commented about Michel de Certeau and the distinction place/space.

We invited the visitors of the park to participate in an acoustic inquiry. We equipped them with devices that enhance one's hearing (Spyears), so that they could uncover a sonic universe that normally rests unnoticed. However, for things to become more interesting, we had placed strange sound sources and hired some actors whose roles were to slightly distort the usually quiet atmosphere of the park. Nobody noticed that everything was fake. Of course many people were puzzled by the weirdness of the soundscape they were discovering.

Amorph!08
"Mapping the Void" was launched for Amorph!08, 9th international festival for performative arts, organized in Paris and Helsinki in May-September, 2008. The organizer is Artists' Association Muu and artistic curator vocal and performance artist Juha Valkeapää.
Amorph!08 has two phases. The first phase takes place on 26 May - 8 June, 2008, in Paris, where it belongs to Printemps (Im)médiat!, Institut Finlandais coordinated part of 100 % Finlande - en France - printemps 2008. The second phase is organized on 18 August - 8 September, 2008, in Helsinki.
Amorph!08 is a meeting point. Participating artists represent the wide field of experimental performative arts: performance art, dance, sound & music, video & web art. The theme is public spaces of Paris and Helsinki. The curator has chosen four Finnish and four French artists, and made four pairs of artists. They are Charlie Jeffery-Jouni Partanen, Carole Douillard-Essi Kausalainen, Viviana Moin-Mimosa Pale, Christophe Bruno-Pessi Parviainen. Each pair will get a public place - flea market, park, river or sea side - to work on. The Parisian places are located near to Mains d'Œuvres, Khiasma and La Générale des Sevres; in Helsinki the central place is Hietalahti. The results of the pairs' work - performance, installation, presentation, lecture - are shown during the festival weekend.
